Istanbul ... More

Istanbul that has a history of 8500 years is the only city of the world that has lands on two different continents. Due to this, it had been the capital of Roman Empire, East Roman Empire and Ottoman Empire for centuries. The history and thus the culture of Istanbul are reflected on its architecture. The urban architecture combines east and west. In the city, there are traces of the Roman Period like the Hippodrome, Basilica Cistern and Column of Constantine, and also Galata Tower that is a heritage of Genoese. However, the structures that truly define the city are from Byzantine and Ottoman periods. The most important one among the Byzantine structures is the Hagia Sophia that stands still as the most important monument of the world for almost 1500 years. And among the Ottoman structures, Topkapı Palace that was used as the residence and management center of Ottoman sultans for centuries, Blue Mosque, Süleymaniye Mosque, and Grand Bazaar and Spice Bazaar that keep the old trade tradition alive can be named as the monuments defining the culture and identity of this city. If you happen to visit Istanbul, don’t forget that this city offers an unparalleled touristic feast to residents and visitors with its historical fabric, natural beauty and cosmopolitan lifestyle.
