Altındere Valley National Park
It is located to south of Trabzon and near Maçka. Inside this national park is the spectacular Sumela Monastery which is situated almost above the clouds. Situated on a cliff façade at an altitude of 270 meters, the monastery reached prominence during the reign of Alexios III, the King of the Empire of Trebizond. Coronation of Alexios III (1349) was held here. There is a library, a church, priest rooms, a chapel, a sacred spring, and kitchens inside the monastery.
