Fatih Mosque

Transformed into a mosque after Amasra was conquered by Mehmed the Conqueror in 1460, the structure is the oldest Byzantine church built inside the Amasra Castle. The building reflects all structural features of its period with the Narthex section and Ambon projection added to the place at a later period. In 1887, the tunnel vault covering the place posed a risk of downfall and was removed and replaced by a wooden ceiling and roof after a big repair work.
