Hoynat Island

Hoynat Island is 100 meters from the shore next to the Hoynat tunnel near Ramazan village in Perşembe, Ordu. Also known as Akkuş Island, it was considered as an “Important Bird Site. Unfortunately, 90 double crested cormorants living on the island were identified as endangered. Hoynat Island is the only place where crested cormorants make nests in our country. Old sailors used this island as a shelter and a kind of storage.  There are small wall ruins on the island today.
