The Cane Bazaar

The art of making canes that has been performed in Devrek for over a century has become famous world-wide. One of the most important handicraft products in Devrek, the canes are produced and sold at the Cane Bazaar which draws a huge interest from foreign and domestic visitors alike. With its handle made from walnut tree, its body from cornel tree, and tip from water buffalo’s horn; the Devrek Cane is completely a handicraft. There are two snake motifs on its body, boiled from the handle down to the tip. Today, Devrek Cane is made in various forms and from different materials including inlaid motifs made from silver, mother-of-pearl, copper, and bone.

The Cane Bazaar was built in 1993 by the District Governorship of Devrek, Municipality of Devrek, and Devrek Association of Cane-Makers.
